Woltz was a one-time mayor of Galax, Virginia, a long-time hot bed of old-timey banjo-fiddle string bands and site of the famous Fiddlers' Convention.

Columbia 15321... Recorded on October 23, 1928. Clinton S. Carnes was the treasurer of the Baptist Mission Board in Atlanta. Anticipating an audit, he absconded with about a million dollars in August of 1928. He was captured in Canada and extridited soon after. Dan Hornsby was from Georgia and a talent scout for Columbia, who supposedly renamed blues singer Robert Hicks, Barbecue Bob.
